Derry City manager Peter Hutton has expressed his annoyance at the timing of Micheal Duffy’s departure to Celtic.

While obviously delighted on a personal level for Duffy, on a professional level Hutton is displeased at the timing and handling of the transfer of which he feels could’ve been tied up weeks ago.
According to Hutton it has left him with very little time to acquire a replacement before the window shuts later tonight and he believes the deal could’ve been sewn up long before now.
Hutton said, “I’m delighted for Michael, it’s an incredible move for him, but the deal should’ve been done weeks ago.
“He went over there on trial twice and done everything they asked, he scored two goals in a friendly win over Newcastle and looked like he’d done enough.
“Then they wanted him back over for a third time, and we as a club refused and told them to make a decision.
“They then left it to yesterday to sign Michael and that’s disappointing, as I said I’m delighted for the kid but it’s left us in a difficult situation.
“I now have to try and find a replacement within 24-hours, it’s not ideal but hopefully we can sort something.
Duffy is expected to finalize his move to Parkhead later today, both clubs have agreed a fee but Duffy needs to negotiate his personal terms before sealing the switch.
