BIG-HEARTED James McClean has helped make a family’s dream come true.
Derry man William Sweeney had opened a Facebook fundraising page to help buy a special hand cycle for his god daughter Kaylee.
They needed £1,500 for the cycle in time to buy it as a Christmas present for Kaylee who suffers from Spinda Bifida.
But when Creggan-born James, who plays for Premiership side West Bromich Albion, spotted the page on Facebook the fundraising came to a sudden halt.
In a post on the page, James said: “Lad that 1,500 for the bike al pay it.”
James generous gesture has not been lost on the family or the people of Derry.
William Sweeney said in response: “Me and my family can’t thank him enough.
“He is a truly a legend with a heart of gold.
“Can’t wait to see Kaylee’s face when she gets her hands on her wee hand cycle on Xmas.
“Legend James.”
Only a fortnight ago the Republic of Ireland international dontated to his old GAA club.
He was also involved in fundraising efforts for former Derry City player Mark Farren who had to travel to South America for a brain operation.
