City of Derry’s Irish Junior Cup team qualified for the matchplay stages of the competition at the regional qualifying held at Portsalon yesterday.
It is their third successive time to make this stage of the competition.
Brian Long, Graham Hepburn, Cormac McKeone, Robert Simpson and Graham Robb, captained astutely by Robbie Kennelly, played very steady golf on the day to finish in third place.
The home club were the leading qualifiers as was expected with near neighbours Rosapenna taking the second spot with Buncrana in fourth place.
The team scores were 308, 313, 317 and 320 respectively
City of Derry play their first match against Rosapenna at Portsalon with the match provisionally set for Friday, 13 June next.
Portsalon will play Buncrana at a neutral venue.
